Meet the Founder of Desert Farms - Walid Abdul-Wahab.
“At Desert Farms, our mission is to promote camel milk as nature's most wholesome dairy beverage, so you can get over the hump when you need, naturally”. Our passion for camel milk began in Saudi Arabia, where our founder, Walid, was visiting his family in his hometown of Jeddah looking for raw milk. He was approached by a friend with a plastic bag of camel milk that looked “really fresh—and tasted so good,” Walid recalls. But then he couldn’t find it anywhere in stores—only the Bedouins sold it. Since you can stop a camel herder by the road in Jeddah, it was no big deal to the locals, right?
So when Walid moved to California, he appreciated how people valued a healthy lifestyle. He realized this was the perfect place to start a camel milk company. After selling camel milk at mosques and ethnic food festivals, Walid’s business plan won the Marcia Israel Award from USC, so he decided to leave his corporate real estate position and began his camel adventure.
Having made the big commitment, he went courting the world, trying to spark a Camel Milk Revolution, and found the greatest and most friendly people. While looking for US camel herders, in the Midwest he came across a group known for being polite and down-to-earth, a group who didn’t exist in the Middle East: the wonderful Amish community, who exemplify hard work and cooperation.
Watching them work together was and remains awesome to Walid. “Networking through social media just isn’t the same as teaming up with neighbors to build a barn,” he says. “If you ask an Amish farmer why they're successful, don't expect a lot of soul-searching or reflection on what they do right—the Amish will likely pin the praise on anyone else but themselves.” Walid felt that they deserved an easier way to bring their products to market, and he loves the quality of their camel milk!
Desert Farms is now bringing these rural farm families’ products to eager consumers in California and other states. “It’s exciting to bridge gaps between communities that are far apart,” he says. Small start-up companies like Desert Farms can offer real value to customers who care about what’s in and behind their products.
Why adding camel milk to your skincare is necessary.
Milk has been utilized in skincare for generations and has been added to soaps (particularly natural soaps) for long periods as well. Milk-rich soaps are creamier and more delicate than cream-free soaps.
The ingredients present in milk, such as minerals, vitamins, essential fats, lactic acid, and oils, add conditioning and moisturizing characteristics to the soap. Following milk skincare routines can give a glow and boost towards healthy skin.
All milk types have some beneficial effects on the skin, no doubt, but none of these kinds of milk are as nutritious as camel milk. This is a fact, not entirely surprising.
Camel calves require all the food they can get in some of the world’s harshest and hottest environments. But female camels produce only about 6 liters of milk per day, revealing that camel’s milk is far higher in nutrition than any other milk.
You will frequently hear camel men saying, in the harsh environment of deserts, ‘Water is soul, but camel milk is life!’
Widely known to support healthy insulin function, camel milk has great expectations for your body. Camel milk is associated with increased insulin sensitivity because of its natural insulin amount.
Whether it’s skincare, hair, or face, camel milk is great for everything! Did you know that camel milk promotes healthy lactation and optimal nutrient composition of breast milk? Yes, it’s true.
Camel milk supports skin elasticity, contains vitamin C, and is rich in skin-loving ingredients like alpha-hydroxy acids that leave your skin soft and smooth, making it a very popular ingredient in creams, ointments, and masks for hydration, radiance, and soft skin.
Why camel milk?
Immune-active protein is probably the most significant constituent of camel milk. The unique molecular structure of concentrated immune proteins in camel milk supports immune cell function and response.
Gentle to sensitive skin
The gentleness of camel milk and products based on it make it perfectly safe for people with delicate skin. It is gentle on the skin, so it will be a nutritional and cleansing experience for all ages when used correctly. Camel milk is full of vitamins and Lactoferrin which improves iron utilization.
Walid Abdul-Wahab expresses his gratitude to Paperstack for their consistent assistance and contribution to his business: ”Paperstack has been a lifeline for us for the last year, we have been growing 15% month over month since we started and we’re really excited to grow with them together. The team is superb and responds extremely fast and they might possibly be the future of e-commerce financing.”
